21st October 2007 One hell of a night...

Thanks to everyone who turned up for our gig last night at Jackson's, Kidderminster. A band is nothing without a good audience and this gig proved it in the extreme.

This was our first public gig for four months or so, partly due to a 'run' of wedding gigs etc., but also due to our drummer Chris finally taking the lovely Louise up the aisle. He needed to 'rest' for about a month before and two months after the wedding. We have no idea what he was doing in this time! Congratulations to Chris and Louise.

Anyway, we're back... At last night's gig, we heard roumours that we'd split up, 'fraid not!

Keep looking at the gig dates section as we try to fill our (and hopefully your) diary over the next few weeks.

15th July 2007 New song added to the Downloads Section...

Our latest recording is now available in the 'Downloads' section. It is our version of the ELO classic 'Mr Blue Sky'. Tell us what you think.....

10th March 2007 The only thing that's constant is change...

Since we last updated this site, lots of things have happened. It is with regret that we announce that Andy has moved on, and we all wish him well in his new musical ventures, but now we're ready to unleash our new drummer Chris Forrester on an unsuspecting world. His first gig was at Kidderminster Rugby Club last night (many thanks to such a great audience!) and he did us proud. Watch this space for more dirt on him when we have it.

Also we would like to say a big thankyou to 'Drummer Dave' for helping us out at the Windmill gig, have a beer on us dude...

31st January 2007 Strangetown Forum...

To gain an insight into the wierd and wonderful lives of we that call ourselves Strangetown, have a look at the Forum (on the left of the screen - bottom button). You can chat to the band, read the jokes and strange stories or tell us what you think! Unfortunately, if you want to post a message you'll have to click the 'Register' doodah when you're there otherwise the forum fills up with adverts for Viagra and Dennis Enlargement (I think that's what it said) but we promise we wont sell your details (it's only a username and your email address) to Malaysian kidney transplanters - unless you want us to...

27th January 2007 Important Message...

If you have been trying to get hold of us by email over the last couple of weeks, please could you send your message again as our internet provider managed to delete everything whilest performing 'Maintenance'! Sorry for any inconvenience.

1st January 2007 Happy New Year...

We would all like to wish every one of you a very happy and peaceful new year. Thanks to the folks who came to our gigs in 2006, you're the ones who make it all worthwhile. We hope to catch you all at a gig soon...

12th November 2006 Embarrasing Photos...

For those of you with a strong stomach, we've uploaded some photos of the band from our gig last night at the Bird In Hand, Stourport (check the photos section). Thanks to everyone that came to see us. Don't forget we're playing Jacksons in Kidderminster on the 25th and we'd love to see you there...

29th August 2006 Come and see us at a gig near you

After months of rehearsal and preparation, we are gigging again with the new line-up. We initially did a few test gigs at the Broadway in Stourbridge and response was great (many thanks if you came to see us), so now Loz is back on the road gig hunting (he shot 3 last week!!).

The 'Gig Dates' page will be updated in the next week or so (so keep surfing back to stay informed) . Also check our new demo tracks in the Downloads section and have a look at our Myspace page.....

Our new line-up includes original Strangetown I members, Craig Grove (keyboards), Jason Rogers (guitar / blood-curdling solos), and now includes Andy Allen (drum teacher and paint salesman), Geoff Moore (session bassist for MAS records) on Bass and Cello, and James Woodward on Vocals and Guitar.

15th April 2005 Who's the Kinky Faces website...

Former Strangetown members Stu (Harper) and Dave have been actively involved in this Who, Kinks and Small Faces tribute band for a while now, and things are really starting to get moving... Their latest announcement is that they have just got their website up-and-running, to have a look at it click here.

24th March 2005 New moves are afoot...

We're keeping our fingers crossed but it looks like Strangetown may be re-forming. We'll have a different lineup but we'll still be perfoming the kind of rock classics that you have come to expect from us. Original members will include Craig and Jase, but the rest of the band is TBA. Keep checking back for more news as it happens...

Strangetown is a self-contained 5-piece band, based in the Black Country. The band was formed in November 2002 and its members are all from the West Midlands area (well Dudley, Rowley Regis / Cradley Heath, Kidderminster, Tipton and Droitwich actually).

Strangetown was formed by Craig, Jase and Mick (Veg) when their previous band - 'Blondie and Beyond' - split, and it was decided to form a band that could perform a more varied set than is possible with a tribute band. As Jase once said 'You can only play Denis Denis so many times before it gets a bit repetitve!'.

Strangetown is now in its third incarnation:

Strangetown I - Craig, Jase, Mick (veg), Stu Harper, Dave, and vocals from Nikki and (later) Carrie.
Strangetown II (aka Sister Strange) - Craig, Jase, Mick (veg), Stu Macaulley, Carrie, and Marcelle (from Blondie and Beyond).
Strangetown III - James, Craig, Geoff, Chris, Jase

We play completely live, no backing tapes please - we're British! and are available for all kinds of local gigs from birthdays, weddings, corporate functions and funerals to partys and bar mitzvahs, or if your pub / club simply wants a live band for a Saturday night.

Strangetown performs covers ranging from 60s all time classics such as 'Brown-eyed Girl' and 'Saw Her Standing There', right through to modern hits like 'Let Me Entertain You' and 'Jump'.
